Charlotte, North Carolina

It was Halloween day and I had a good night sleep thanks to Brenda and the Carr UMC who offered to sleep indoors so I did not have to worry about frost. I had a good day of bike in through the gorgeous HWY 49 south... curvy, quiet and alive! watch this video:

As I was headed towards Charlotte, and was full feelings of anticipation to see an old family friend, Jorge. I was on my day 5 of riding, my legs were tired, so I called Jorge and asked him to get me at Asheboro, some 30 miles away from Charlotte. Now I'm here in his house enjoying the conveniences of a home and enjoying being pampered.

I'm thinking about hitting the road, sometime late next week! I'll keep in touch!

Into North Carolina

Shortly after I reacher North Carolina, I remembered to main reason way I decided to go south first, and cross North America from west to east. I was greeted by a very strong winds coming from the west, it slowed me down tremendously and got really tired really fast.

I decided to stop to eat at a local dinner in Conway, NC. There I meet Joney and Robert who offered me to camp, in their shed, this way I was protected from wind and frost. Thanks for the help when I was in need.

The next day, after having de-constructed my mental blocks, I felt ready to face the wind whole heartedly, and it did take me much longer time to cover the 60mille per day quota. All and all its all part of the mental training. That night I camped on Edward's yard and it was my coldest night for sure I woke up to ice on the tent:

Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, last night in Virginia

After leaving Nassawadox, last Monday I took with me feelings of friendship and gratitude to all that open their hearts and lives to me during my brief visit, namely Elizabeth, Jerry, Alfredo, Laura, and little Santi. thank you... Alfredo, I'm honored to have offered you fellings of inspiration! Boa sorte, na sua futura excurssão de afeção!!!

I reached to Bridge/Tunnel before noon and because Jarry had already called in to book a ride (since you cannot pedal a bike on the bridge), they were waiting for me and did not charge me the toll. Jim was my driver who gave me the private tour... thanks Jim

I had aimed to reach North Carolina that afternoon, but had to stop a few miles short of the border, south of Suffolk, VA. I ended up camping on the yard of these senior ladies house, at first they were very skeptical, and soon decided to take a chance on me. Even with today society, it is hard to know who to trust. I am delighted that I can still access humanness by transcending to people the purity of heart, despite the worries of todays society. Thank you Mrs. White, Betty, Mary and Elaine.

Virginia - Day off

Wow Each day that passes I fell more blessed with what life offers me "Ask and you shall receive..."

I had been biking for a good 4.5 hrs this past Saturday, and it was around 3:30pm, I was completing the general quote of 60 miles a day. The sky was getting darker by the minute I had been ridding harder than usual as the storm front from the south had been introduced by very powerful winds, people advised me that it was going to be followed by heavy rain storm, which it did indeed.
I told myself (intented) that I would be ok and would find some shelter within another 7 miles down the road. I continued bike turning off my rational mind, and letting my intuition take over. I then found my perfect match 7 miler down the road, making Making a long detailed story short, they (Jarry and Elizabeth) took me in like their a old friend. They offered me a shower, food, shelter, internet and above all their friendship, what else could I possibly need... Later I decided to stay for the following day as my day off. I went to the early service at their church and made lots of connection, plus hung out for the afternoon with some of their friends, Alfredo, Laura and little Santiago. The gave me tour of the area, ate wild oysters from the area and met their friends from Colombia - Jaime and Liliana.
Jarry also arranged for an interview with the local news paper, so I'll be posting a link to it when it come out...
Take good care everyone, and remember that we can manifest what we think. so think good things :-)
